SESSION ELEVEN: Agency and Social Change

Tonight, we welcomed a special guest presentation by the Women's Press Collective. WPC's volunteer coordinator Lisa Daniels led the evening. The talk focused on grassroots media and on the past and present work of WPC. While media bashing is common in our course, tonight we learned that the power of media can be used for good; it can offer agency, leading to social change and empowerment.

While reading this it came to me that thing have not changed alot since the 1960's riots for equality.

In society today people are still racially moviated, by the thing that are shown on tv, in the media such as newspapers and radio most of all the internet. you would think as advanced society we would have shown more advancement in racism. maybe i misunderstood the topic but i still feel that people are even more critical of others.

The Media in whole has never really shown the good side of any situation. that why you have to study and visit place you never see or heard of and make your own opinion.

jen, i think maybe i did'nt understand this topic but i did my best.
